E-Learning Course Design

An Introduction to Yukon

eLearning course design allowed me to learn more about learning management systems (LMS) such as Moodle Cloud and Canvas. It gave me a second opportunity to produce a comprehensive design document that outlines the rationale for an online course and build out the structure of the course and two complete modules.

The course structure I designed was software instruction for my current employer titled “An Introduction to Yukon”. This course was created for employees who use the proprietary enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.

The WisCom Challange

An Online Distance Education Course Plan

When taking Culture and Global e-Learning I created a plan to design an online distance learning course teaching principles of documentary photography while promoting social responsibility by utilizing components of the WisCom framework.

The presentation includes a course summary, learner analysis, addresses access to technology, includes a learner profile summary, describes the course delivery method, and entails a simple assessment and evaluation plan.

The Adult Learner

Personal Learning Plan

In remembering “The Adult Learner” in my first semester of graduate school, I was confronted with an APA style research paper every week for 8 consecutive weeks. The papers were centered around a different learning theory and concluded with my own personal learning plan and justification on a subject of choice.

A large take-away from this class was the use of concept mapping. “Concept mapping is a technique that helps people represent their knowledge organizations visually.” (Ambrose et al, p.59)

Instructional Design Case Analysis

Establishing a Virtual Makerspace

The OILS classes “Framing Designs of Learning” and “Prototyping Designs of Learning” provided a couple of profound learning opportunities.

Initially we had to produce a case study summary on a topic of choosing from a peer reviewed library and explain the rationale behind the design.

I presented a case titled “Establishing a Virtual Makerspace for an Online Graduate Course”.

Exploring Virtual Worlds In Online Learning

Using Second Life to Build a Virtual World

Exploring virtual worlds (VW) was one of my favorite classes throughout my UNM graduate experience. Before embarking on this adventure, I’d never participated in a virtual learning experience. The class met in Second Life (SL) every week at the UNM virtual campus.

I learned about the nuances of exploring the educational possibilities within a VW through peer collaboration, creating interactive THiNC Books, and meeting experts from other Universities, who teach in SL. The final learning artifact produced was a group project that focused on the many enchanting experiences one can find in New Mexico.

Team Development & Facilitation

A Glimpse Into Being a Facilitator for Group and Team Meetings

This course was an important steppingstone in my learning at UNM and allows me to bring newfound skills and insights into the professional realm. Starting off I learned the importance of creating a team charter and establishing early healthy norms to help increase team productivity and success.

I learned not only about practices and strategies to help with effective teamwork, but also about the significance a facilitator can play in helping to bring forth productive outcomes within team communication.

Instructional Design Analysis Document

The Center for Digital Learning (CDL) at UNM

The client for this design is the CDL, which is a hub for instructional design, blended and online learning, and faculty development at UNM. CDL seeks to provide an online interactive training approach for online course reviewers that will replace traditional classroom training.

The course modules will teach new reviewers’ pertinent information on how to best evaluate for new rubric standards while at the same time help to keep current reviewers up to date on knowledge and best practices and inform them of any changes to the rubric itself.

Global Cultures Grant Proposal Example

Empowering Women Through Entrepreneurship (EWTE)

Our goal is to provide an experienced team of professionals to support and empower up to 20 women in Morocco as individuals and as a collective group by creating a 3-year eLearning certified program which will implement a culturally inclusive curriculum.

EWTE eLearning program will teach women best practices in global business and e-commerce strategies, promotes leadership and group collaboration through latest Information Communication and Technology (ICT) within a culturally inclusive instructional design (ID) framework, focuses on business sustainability while promoting community contribution and opportunities for local reciprocity, and seeks to provide economic growth opportunities for the participating women, their families, and surrounding communities.

Team Development & Project Management

Two Team Charter Examples

Throughout my graduate studies, I had two opportunities to create a team charter before starting on group projects.

Creating a team charter helps to establish the team goals, expectations for group participation, meeting norms, working norms, ways to manage conflict, team communication, and feedback.
